 Tell me more...The Clinical Nurse demonstrates clinical leadership and management qualities in the provision of quality, cost effective, patient /resident centred nursing care in consultation with other members of the health care team and in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia's National competency standards for the registered nurse. They provide best practise nursing care in the assessment and treatment of patients/clients/residents to promote, maintain and improve their health, functional ability and quality of life. They are a key member of the multidisciplinary team, providing educational support to others, planning and evaluating nursing care and providing clinical supervision and nursing leadership as required.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Ability to provide high level of nursing and clinical leadership across the multi-disciplinary team that reflects the highest possible standards of relevant legislation and contemporary models of practice which includes a thorough understanding of the NSQHS standards, audit process, quality improvement cycle, nursing research and professional development.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills including the ability to consult, liaise and negotiate with hospital and community health providers within the Torres Cape Hospital and Health Service and beyond.
  • Demonstrates understanding and knowledge of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration/endorsement with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to commencement of clinical duties. Current registration with the Australian Health Practice Registration Authority (APHRA) as a registered nurse and current practising certificate is mandatory.
  • Provide evidence of current ALS/PLS within the last 12 months.
  • Minimum of five years post-graduate experience including a current competency in cannulation or the ability to obtain.
