Remuneration package of up to $522,648 p.a. comprising salary range of $204,206 - $258,910 p.a., (L18-L27), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%). attraction and retention incentive allowance (50% base salary), regional and rural attraction allowance (5% base salary), motor vehicle allowance between $21,000 and $25,000 p.a., professional development allowance of $21,500 p.a. + 3.6 weeks p.a. leave, private practice arrangements, communications package, professional indemnity cover and inaccessibility allowance (if applicable).

Additional employment benefits offered include attractive salary sacrificing options. Assistance with relocation expenses may also be available.

About the role
The role of the Staff Specialist (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) is to provide high quality clinical and non-clinical services to benefit the patients and clients of the Townsville Hospital and Health Service (THHS). This includes teaching the health professionals of the future and a contribution to surgical training as well as research.

You will lead and manage the provision of medical services in accordance with the standard of the speciality, the ethics of the profession and in accordance with the THHS and Queensland Health policies, in a hospital, community and outreach setting.

This role requires established skills in general obstetrics and gynaecology and an ability to be registered to work at this level in Queensland.

  • The role contains an Obstetrics and Gynaecology caseload. It is a requirement of the role to partake in and contribute to all aspects of women's health care, including termination of pregnancy services.
  • The role also includes collaborative working with and support of the urogynaecology subspecialist service. A special interest in this area or advanced level 6 laparoscopic surgical skills are encouraged but not essential for the role.
  • Participation in the general Obstetrics and Gynaecology on-call roster as per the service needs is a requirement of the role.
  • The schedule of the 1.0 FTE working week may include flexible working hours to meet the needs of the service. The service may include outreach services to rural and regional facilities.

  • Join an enthusiastic team of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists who are passionate about providing high quality health care to the women of North Queensland.
  • Work collaboratively with other specialists and health professionals involved in the delivery of gynaecology and maternity care.
  • Provide supportive leadership to a team of junior doctors who work within the service.
