The role: 
As the Senior Project Officer – Capability Support, you will be reporting to the Manager, Capability Support and will be responsible for providing specialist support for the improvement of documented standards, methods and tools. You will play a proactive role in implementing an embedded system of continuous process improvement and learning that translates knowledge into better practice.

A key part of the role will involve provision of a support and maintenance service for the project delivery framework published on Project Central and the supporting content, guidance and templates. This includes analysis of lessons learned to inform the capability improvement plan and prioritise improvements to the project delivery framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop and ensure the currency of support and maintenance work instructions for relevant project delivery standards, methods and tools (e.g. Project Central).
  • Manage the maintenance and further development of the project delivery framework (including the reference lifecycle, delivery pathways, processes, guidance and checklists etc.).
  • Manage the support, maintenance and further development of the Project Central intranet site (including implementation of a maintenance plan and quarterly reviews of content currency and link coherence and management of the electronic configuration library for the associated content, guidance and templates).
  • Manage or facilitate the quality review process for Project Central content and supporting guidance and templates.
  • Provide a coordination/administration service for the Project Capability Development function.
  • Prepare an annual analysis of lessons learned to identify improvement themes and translate this learning into actionable knowledge.
  • Provide a central coordination point for program and project management training, both internal and external. Provide an administrative service in the form of booking and organising courses. This will include the booking of venues and refreshments, liaison with trainers and external organisations, the issuing of delegate lists and course joining instructions and maintenance of a central training register.
  • Build and maintain a repository of good examples of program and project documentation.
  • Build and maintain a library of resources – training aids, reference material, manuals etc.

Is this opportunity for you?
To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Extensive experience in the delivery or support of programs and projects within a large and complex ICT environment, preferably in the health care industry. You will possess a high level of expertise and knowledge of appropriate project management methodologies, preferably PRINCE2, and the ability to provide expert advice on the use of appropriate project management standards, methods and tools.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are also required, including the ability to effectively negotiate and consult within a complex project delivery environment. This will enhance your proven stakeholder management skills to support effective business change, including the ability to initiate, influence and maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Proven analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills as well as experience in leading, managing and mentoring effective multi-disciplinary teams.
