Work positively and proactively with the other staff within Core Chemistry to optimise service delivery for clients.  Be responsible for monitoring and reporting clinical work practices and outcomes within the Point of Care area and initiating, planning, evaluating, and reporting on local service improvement activities. With great negociation skills you will apply independent scientific judgement and high level advice regarding Point of Care services to a variety of internal and external clients of the Core Laboratory.

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

Clinical Expertise

  • Demonstrated high level knowledge and skill in the technical, scientific, instrumental, research and development, and clinical interpretive aspects of Point of Care testing.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services of a complex nature to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles or procedures.

Communication

  • Well-developed communication skills and demonstrated commitment to developing a healthy and productive workplace.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff and clients on issues relating to Point of Care services
  • Ability to provide training to both laboratory and clinical personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and to work independently and collaboratively to produce effective work output and quality in a highly process driven environment with competing priorities.

Leadership

  • Demonstrated focus upon continuous improvement activities in the Point of Care area within the RBWH and STARS campuses.
  • Commitment to personal and professional excellence.
  • Demonstrated contributions and leadership role in; the quality of clinical practice within Point of Care, quality assessments, maintenance of quality management relevant legislative, administrative, and professional standards, and to NATA/ISO accreditation/certification.
  • Awareness of the human resource management policies applicable to contemporary workplaces.
