Seeking a Specialist Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) to join the LGH Radiology Department, who has has an annual turnover of over 70,000 examinations and is staffed 24/7 with shifts and on call. We have a great team with access to ongoing professional development in the department.

Launceston General Hospital (LGH) is committed to all people needing our service and building on our core CARE principles. LGH is a 300 bed Regional Hospital teaching hospital situated in North of Tasmania, with a strong focus on education and specialist care. With a growing number of new Consultants to the region the opportunity to be a part of a new wave of healthcare in Launceston awaits. The population catchment for the Launceston General Hospital of approximately 250 000, extends from the Northwest to the east coast of Tasmania. The LGH is unique it the level of tertiary specialist medical services it has for a regional hospital, as such we see a wide range of presentations and complex medical imaging cases.

The role:

  • Perform basic and advanced radiographic imaging examinations with a primary focus on Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI).

The Specialist Radiographer (Medical Imaging Practitioner) is responsible for performing basic and advanced diagnostic imaging in MRI and associated administrative tasks. As the Specialist education and training of junior staff will be required.

The MRI suite performs approximately 15-20 scans per day, mostly of complex inpatient and emergency presentations. On call and weekend work is available.

  • The role would be a valuable addendum to extending the scope of MRI scanning for the radiographer usually working in a private setting.

Details of Appointment

Fixed term, casual, shift-worker position working as and when required, commencing at your earliest availability for a period of 12 months.

*notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

  • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

Salary: $106,966 to $123,013 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

  • Salary range is in accordance withAllied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

  • Registered with the Medical Radiation Practice Board of Australia.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

Post graduate study in advanced medical imaging or other relevant major.

Professional development in areas relevant to the role.
