Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the Department of Critical Care Medicine, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Alberta, invites applications for an Adult Intensivist to be based primarily at the Misericordia Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

The allotment of FTE to the successful candidate(s) will be determined at the time of hire. The position will be comprised of regular clinical duties and includes the provision nighttime service coverage. The position will be remunerated through a clinical alternate relationship plan (ARP) funding model. Further details can be discussed at time of Interview. 

The successful applicant(s) will be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada with an MD, FRCPC, possess a specialist certificate or equivalent in Critical Care Medicine and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta, with a preference for candidates with training and expertise in Critical Care Point of Care Ultrasound, with interest in supporting an ambulatory post-intensive care clinic and/or chronic ventilation program and/or with training and expertise in education, quality and safety, and clinical research. 

The successful applicant will be eligible to and expected to work with and supervise multi-level learners. The successful applicant(s) will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty Appointment in the Department of Critical Care Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry. The successful candidate will be expected to be involved in multi-level teaching and facilitate clinical research and innovation.

Required:

·         MD or equivalent.

·         Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

·         Certification in Critical Care Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

·         Eligible to work with and supervise multi-level learners.

·         Expertise and commitment to quality care and patient safety.

·         Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) in the healthcare environment.

·         Understanding of Just Culture and its role in healthcare.

Preferred with one or more of the following:

·         Additional training in Critical Care Point of Care Ultrasound.

·         Additional interest in ICU Follow-Up and/or Chronic Mechanical Ventilation

·         Additional training and interest in education.

·         Additional training and interest in clinical research.
