The role  
The Queensland Government is proud of the progress it is making to support the rights of women and girls. This includes the Queensland Women and Girls' Health Strategy
released in March 2024, which will invest almost $250 million in new funding over five years to drive system reform, address system inequities and enable our women and girls to fully participate in social, cultural and economic activities. 

This role is part of a broader departmental team to support the implementation and evaluation of the Queensland Women and Girls' Health Strategy.

As the Principal Project Officer within Queensland Health, you will embody the organization's core values while leading the charge in implementing, monitoring, and evaluating healthcare improvement initiatives within a complex clinical and operational framework. Your role will be pivotal in crafting high-level briefing documents, submissions, and reports that align with the objectives of the Healthcare Improvement Unit and broader organizational and governmental priorities. 

Building and nurturing positive networks and collaborative relationships across the health sector will be integral to your success, as you engage with stakeholders ranging from frontline clinicians to senior decision-makers such as the Deputy Director-General and Minister for Health. Leveraging exceptional interpersonal skills, including consultation, presentation, negotiation, and influencing abilities, you will drive project goals forward in clinical settings and work collaboratively within a team to achieve the unit's goals and priorities. Additionally, you will flexibly manage additional duties as directed by unit leadership or the Executive Director within the Healthcare Improvement Unit, ensuring the success of healthcare improvement initiatives across the organization.


The successful person
Success in this position necessitates exceptional interpersonal skills and advanced strategic written communication abilities, including a demonstrated capacity to engage and influence diverse stakeholders while fostering productive relationships and networks. Additionally, a record of accomplishment of leading projects or initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency and efficacy of healthcare service delivery is essential.

Moreover, candidates should exhibit advanced project management expertise, encompassing the establishment of robust governance frameworks, task definition, priority setting, and effective coordination of activities to meet deadlines, with a history of delivering sustained and measurable results. Furthermore, familiarity with process improvement methodologies, implementation strategies, and evaluation techniques within the healthcare sector is required.

The role of the Clinical Excellence Queensland (CEQ) is to drive the patient safety, quality improvement and clinical improvement agendas for the Queensland health system. It will achieve this by identifying, monitoring and promoting improvements in the quality of health services delivered by service providers (both Hospital and Health Services and private health facilities, globally and within Queensland), and support and facilitate the dissemination of best practice clinical standards and processes that achieve better outcomes for patients. The quality improvement agenda is actively supported by a significant research agenda. The Division is also accountable for setting and supporting the direction for mental health, alcohol and other drug services in Queensland, as well monitoring and reporting on performance.
