Consultant Radiologist

NHS Highland - More jobs by this advertiser

Applications are invited for Consultant Radiologists to join the team based at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness on a 10 PA basis per week; however we would support applications for those wishing to work part time.  Some home working will also be available. Out of hours CT is entirely provided by teleradiology and there is currently no on-call commitment.

The NHS Highland area affords an enviable quality of life with close links to the vibrant capital city of Inverness and the surrounding beautiful coast and mountains that Highland is famous for. The supportive team will welcome a newly qualified consultant, or an established colleague ready for a new adventure.  We have recently recruited a substantial number of new colleagues to support our established team therefore it is a perfect time to join our team.

We are about to embark on installing a third MRI scanner, an upgrade to our RIS system, replacing our CT equipment as well as refurbishment of our radiology department in Raigmore as well as wider work with our Rural General Hospitals.

The post holder will be expected to provide a general radiological service comprising CT, MRI, ultrasound and plain film reporting. A subspecialty interest would be welcome but is not essential. There is ample opportunity to develop a subspecialty interest, and this would be actively encouraged.  Although the role is advertised as full time should this not be what you are offering please discuss this with us.

The department is supported by radiographers and sonographers, imaging assistants, secretaries and clerical staff.

The post holder will not be expected to be on-call but will be expected to be part of a ladder system for advice and be the duty radiologist at least 1 PA per week.  We have implemented home working for reporting and MDT preparation to increase flexibility of agreed jobs plans however it is important for team working that a large proportion of the week is spent on site within Raigmore.

Posts are to support the general radiology needs for the department, but a wide range of specialist activities are provided within NHS Highland and specialist interests are encouraged. Interests in MSK, Breast, cardiothoracic and paediatric imaging would be especially welcome, however any other existing specialist interests will be considered. The interested applicant is encouraged to get in touch with the department to discuss further.

You will be working alongside dynamic and supportive clinical colleagues in radiology, nursing and a range of medical & surgical specialties. The hospitals in the Highlands are pleasant and friendly places to work.

Applicants must be on the General Medical Council Specialist Register with a Licence to Practise or within six months of obtaining CCT in Radiology at time of interview.
We understand the constraints you can face when moving jobs, which is why we offer a substantial Relocation Package for new permanent members of the team.

Thank you for your interest in working in our Radiology team and we look forward to welcoming your application.

Applicants are encouraged to visit the department prior to applying, with the costs of a preliminary visit being met by NHS Highland.

We would strongly encourage applicants to contact the service to arrange a visit prior to short-listing/interview, if selected. For further information please contact:
