The Position 

Position Title:  Injury Management Specialist
Classification:  HS3 to HS4 dependant on qualifications and experience
Salary per hour (exc. super):  $$37.68- $42.34 (up to $83,663.64 p.a. plus Super and Salary Packaging benefits)
Hours per fortnight:  up to 76
Employment Status:  Ongoing permanent role, part-time up to full-time hours available
Other requirements:  COVID-19 Vaccination (3 doses)

The Team

The Occupational Health and Safety Team focus on ensuring a safe and healthy workplace at all Bendigo Health sites and campuses. The team have services for injury management, health and wellbeing, ensuring staff are supported to return to work as well as focussing on hazard management and risk mitigation.

Do work that matters

This position will support the operational requirements of the Bendigo Health Occupational Health and Safety management system with specialised injury management advice, Health and Wellbeing initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.

Assist us to identify preventative measures to reduce workplace injuries, as well as identifying and supporting Health and Wellbeing initiatives and continuous improvement opportunities.

Your impact and contribution

  • Ensure the experience of staff is compassionate and timely, managing claims and return to work services which balance individual recovery needs with a responsible approach for the organisation.
  • Initiate and co-ordinate injury and claims management procedures when notified of a staff work related injury/illness.
  • Represent Bendigo Health at the Accident Compensation Conciliation Service (ACCS), advocating on behalf of the organisation in consultation with the authorised insurer representative.
  • Prepare and deliver data, information and reports on key claims management outcomes, including analysing data to make recommendations about areas of improvement and change.
  • Develop, implement and review the Bendigo Health Health and Wellbeing Plan, including coordination and promotion of annual activities.

What you will bring

• A Tertiary qualification and/or demonstrated experience in Occupational Health and Safety, HR Management or Return to Work management in a complex environment, along with demonstrated experience managing OH&S issues.

  • Return to Work Coordinator Certification
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, including ability to interpret and implement, the WIRC Act 2013, and working knowledge of the OH&S Act 2004.
  • Current knowledge of WorkCover claims management systems and best practice concepts and demonstrated Return to Work management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working with professionals such as occupational rehabilitation providers, medical specialists, allied health staff, WorkSafe Victoria and WorkCover Insurance agents
