An exciting opportunity for multiple Senior Medical Officers - GP/Rural Generalists in the beautiful Whitsunday region of Queensland. Multiple Permanent Full-Time or Permanent Part-Time positions available.

You will:

  • Provide expert clinical services for the Unit/Department within the Clinical Services Capability Framework for the facility, and within the clinical privileges formally granted to the Senior Medical Officer from time to time. 
  • Provide expert consultancy/advisory services as required to both internal and external agencies that are relevant to the health industry. 
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills including communication, negotiation, organisation and time management skills. 
  • Implement and undertake major teaching and educational initiatives and responsibilities within the Unit/Department inclusive of managing the performance appraisal and development of subordinate staff.

Based within a 27-bed rural hospital servicing the local town and surrounding areas, located 200 kms south of Townsville and 185 kms north of Mackay. Services provided include inpatient services, Emergency patient care; General Outpatients, Allied Health services including: Pharmacy; Radiography; Physiotherapy; Speech Pathology; Occupational Therapy; Community Health Antenatal and Postnatal outpatient services; Oral Health; Outreach Mental Health and AODS services; Visiting Medical Specialists (Paediatrician, Psychiatrist; Respiratory Physician; Endocrinologist and Orthopaedic Surgeon); Tele-health services supported by local medical officers.

  • Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
  • Demonstration of or working toward acquisition of medical skills commensurate with requirements of rural practice. (FRACGP, FACRRM, FARGP or equivalent). 
  • Completion of an Advanced Skill (or equivalent) and proficiency and eligibility for credentialing by the MHHS credentialing committee as a FRACGP-RG, FACRRM, FARGP with advanced skill would be highly desirable. 
  • Certification of at least one (secondary) advanced rural skill is highly desirable.

Salary Information

Total remuneration value of up to $485,448 (L27) is comprised of: A salary between $244,248 - $258,910 (L25-L27)

Total remuneration value of up to $430,852 (L24) is comprised of: A salary between $204,206 - $237,196 (L18-L24)

Total remuneration value of up to $368,310 (L17) is comprised of: A salary between $176,802 - $ 198,941 (L13-L17)
