Intrinsic Health Group is a passionate group of allied health professionals working across Queensland to provide holistic allied health services to individuals of any age or ability.

We are seeking Speech Pathologists to join an expanding allied health team with an established and growing demand for both speech therapy and occupational therapy. We actively support internal and external Professional Development with established programs for New Graduates.

Our therapists provide service to the Ipswich Region however there is some flexibility in location, making residence and commute from Brisbane possible. Working as part of a vibrant and collegiate team, together you will deliver client-centred, best practice-informed care in an environment that promotes continuous quality improvement.

You will with receive support from an engaged Practice Manager, administrative team and Allied Health Assistants, to deliver predominantly, but not exclusively, paediatric services. Our cohesive group of therapists are supported through a clear model of supervision, mentoring and communities of practice, enabling them to deliver high quality and customised services. Working with a skilled group of experienced and supportive therapists your role will give you the opportunity for innovation, and clinical and managerial skill development. We are uniquely placed to service the Ipswich region through clinic, kindergarten, school, and community-based sessions. This is an exciting role with a broad caseload.

About the role
We provide services across the life span for children and adults who are funded by NDIS, Medicare (EPC/CDM), HCP and CHSP Packages, or privately funded. We provide assessment and intervention for:

  • Speech
  • Language
  • Social Communication
  • Literacy
  • Voice
  • Fluency
  • Augmentative & Alternative Communication (AAC)
  • Swallowing/ Mealtime Management / Dysphagia
  • Delivery of transdisciplinary (SP and OT) and SP-dedicated sessions
  • We continue to develop innovative, multidisciplinary programs to meet the needs of our community
  • Common diagnoses that people present with include Autism, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, Ehler-Danlos Syndrome and Generalised Hypermobility Syndrome, Traumatic Brain Injury, Developmental Co-ordination Disorders, Down Syndrome, other Genetic Disorders, and neurological conditions.

Senior Duties

Clinical Skills

  • Support strategic direction through delivery of clinical services and implementation of our frameworks
  • Demonstrate initiative and leadership to develop, implement and evaluate innovative SP services
  • Support productive working relationships through networking, mentoring, coaching and peer support
  • Display personal drive and integrity to lead others to provide best practice-informed service delivery

Professional Support

  • Deliver profession specific mentoring and supervision
  • Initiate conversations around career development
  • Provide specialist input to develop and support the selection orientation and induction of new staff
  • Facilitate and contribute to professional development for self and others
  • Actively support education and monitoring of students and AHAs
  • Embrace change and lead with focus and optimism

Practice Development and Clinical Governance

  • Demonstrate appreciation of legislative/policy frameworks by consistently applying relevant standards
  • Makes considered, ethical decisions with insight into broad context
  • Lead/manage the development and implementation of practice standards and service improvement projects, adhering to existing clinical governance structures

Research and Training

  • Commit to the profession through tertiary studies/achievements, publications, and/or presentations at local/ state/national conferences, across Intrinsic Health, and through other opportunities
  • Actively develop/deliver training materials to support clinical practice
  • Qualification as a Speech Pathologist
  • Be registered as a Certified Practicing Member of SPA
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to use mobile technology in the workplace.
  • Passion for ongoing learning and progression.
  • Have professional indemnity and public liability insurance
  • Be registered or able to be registered with Medicare
  • Be willing to undergo a current WWC and police check
  • Hold a current Positive Notice Blue Card
  • NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Hold a current Driver’s Licence
  • Experience working in the NDIS space
  • Paediatric experience
  • Experience in assessment and intervention across the lifespan within a variety of clinical areas
  • Able to work within the context of a multidisciplinary team to support a variety of presentations
  • Able to establish rapport with clients and their support network, demonstrating compassion and empathy
  • Strong organisational and management skills to support diverse caseload
  • Communication skills of a high standard, including written communication and reporting
  • Flexibility of days and hours, understanding of life commitments, Saturday work if this is desired.
