The role is expected to research and implement evidence-based statistical, mathematical and machine learning techniques to develop and maintain demand forecasts to inform planning, replenishment and critical to driving inventory outcomes. This position reports to the Manager, Demand Planning & Forecasting, and has no direct reports.

About Supply Chain Branch:

Supply Chain is a branch in Corporate Services Division (CSD) supporting the supply of clinical goods, pharmaceuticals and linen products to the Hospital and Health Services (HHS), Queensland Health.The branch is comprised of functions critical to Queensland Health's supply response, including Warehousing & Logistics, Central Pharmacy, Linen Services and Operations. This branch brings together an end-to-end supply chain management function from demand planning through to warehousing and distribution into a single integrated branch led by the Executive Director.  

What we are looking for:

  • Excellent analytical skills demonstrated through high level knowledge and experience in mathematical, statistical and machine learning techniques for descriptive, diagnostic, predictive and prescriptive data analysis to support demand planning and forecasting activities.
  • High level knowledge and experience with a variety of ETL and coding applications such as Python, R and DAX to support the analysis and reporting on large volumes of warehouse data and exceptions.
  • High level working SQL knowledge and experience working with relational databases, query authoring (SQL), as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases including cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Azure Services.
  • High level knowledge and experience with building, deploying, sharing, and maintaining enterprise-grade data, analytics, and AI solutions at scale using unified, open platforms such as Databricks and/or RStudio packages.
  • High level written and oral communication skills including liaising, consulting, and stakeholder engagement with a broad range of clients in a complex and diverse environment. 
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal data, external data, and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
