Queensland Health - More jobs by this advertiser

Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.

About the role

The Critical Care Principal House Officer role at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital is a new role designed to facilitate pre-vocational experience for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander doctors interested in pursuing specialist training in Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.  The year would also be an excellent foundation in critical care medicine for doctors wishing to pursue ACCRM fellowship.

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to structure their year to suit their desired clinical experience.  The year is divided into 4 approximately 3-month terms, with the first two terms being in the doctor's preferred specialty (Anaesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine or Emergency Medicine), with one term each in the other two departments to complete the year.  Doctors will have the opportunity to participate fully in each department's high quality teaching programs and have access to audit and research opportunities as well as established clinical mentorship programs. The Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital offers extensive exposure to a wide range of medical and surgical subspecialties, tertiary obstetrics, trauma and burns.

Cultural support will be provided by the Metro North Health Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Team.  This includes access to the Social and Emotional Wellbeing program, which supports the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees working across Metro North Health services.
