We are looking for a Permanent Part-Time (0.5FTE) Staff Specialist in Psychiatry for an exciting position in New South Wales. Working across a Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre (short-stay crisis unit) and its associated emergency department(s) within the Adult Inpatient Stream of the health districts Mental Health Service you will proactively. You will provide psychiatric assessment, treatment, care planning, and clinical oversight of patients in both settings using person centred, recovery-oriented, family/carer-inclusive, and trauma-informed principles of care. You will need to be an effective communicator, collaborator, leader, health advocate, scholar, and professional. You will proactively support the development of mental health services, facilitate a culture of learning and best practice, and participate in quality improvement and/or research efforts within the service.

Just 90mins south of Sydney, this health district provides health services for around 400,000 people. It is one of the region’s largest employers with a workforce of more than 8,500 staff operating eight hospital sites and providing community health services from approximately 58 locations across the region. This is a short stay unit, primarily for crisis intervention for consumers with low to medium acuity mental health problems; and who are likely to require only a brief period (up to 48 hours) in hospital.

• Specialist registration or eligible for specialist registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

• Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP) and/or equivalent specialist recognition.

• Evidence of continuing medical education and self-monitoring/audit practices consistent with the scope of practice requirements of the position.

• Proven capacity and/or experience in the provision of effective high-quality services, demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position including evidence of participation in quality improvement activities relevant to the specialty.

• Demonstrated commitment to teaching with experience in teaching both undergraduate and post graduate students and other staff of the hospital.

• Be accredited or be willing to become accredited as an RANZCP supervisor of psychiatry trainees.

• Base Salary: $186,241 - $251,618 (dependent on experience)

• Expected Salary of $262,376 to $354,479 with allowances.
