Mater Private Hospital Brisbane have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and motivated Clinical Nurse to join the welcome lounge/day unit on a permanent basis.

Salary range: $52.63 - $56.38 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900

What you’ll be doing

Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager of the Welcome Lounge/Preadmission Clinic, our Clinical Nurses make up a vital and respected part of the nursing team at Mater.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

Clinical expertise/Patient care

• Provides high quality patient care, where advanced clinical skills and knowledge underpin care coordination, collaboration and communication for excellence in patient outcomes
• Conducts systematic assessments of patients using an outcome based framework.
• Implements appropriate evidence based Nursing/Midwifery interventions and initiates appropriate referrals.
• Plans care in collaboration with individual patients and groups of patients using assessment data which will achieve optimal health, rehabilitation or dignified death.
• Evaluates effectiveness of care in achieving predicted outcomes and reviews plans in accordance with evaluated data and initiates effective discharge planning processes.
• Collaborates with other health professionals and community services in the delivery of health care.
• Establishes priorities for resolution of identified health needs in consultation with the patient or group of patients.
• Participates in the development and implementation of innovative models of care that promote continuity.
• Acts as a patient advocate ensuring patients are informed and consent is gained prior to treatment, investigation and management as appropriate and assists/negotiates sensitively with patients where there may be barriers to understanding.

About you

In order to be successful in this position, you will have:

• Current registration with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board to practice as a Registered Nurse/Midwife.
• Minimum of three years full time equivalent clinical experience in area of specialty.
