About the role

The purpose of this role is to develop, lead and sustain a state-wide Mental Health Evaluation Research Unit at the Queensland Centre for Mental Health Research (QCMHR). The Research stream provides mental health evaluation research services to Queensland Health's Mental Health and Other Drugs Branch (MHAODB) and hospital and health services across Queensland. The unit also extends specialist mental health evaluation services to government and non-government health services and organisations interstate and internationally.

About you

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

  • Expert knowledge in mixed methods research methodologies in Mental Health Evaluation fields
  • Expert experience in the strategic and operational management of a multi-disciplinary research team within a complex health service environment.
  • Expert ability to develop and maintain strong networks with senior stakeholders within academic/research centres, government, national and international institutions, and commercial and not-for-profit agencies, to facilitate effective research project execution and outcome delivery.
  • Expert ability to problem solve and exercise independent professional judgement in research design, analysis and reporting of research projects.
  • A track record of research productivity (e.g. academic publications, competitive grants, and Higher Degree Student supervision).

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of a Bachelor's degree qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and a PhD in the field of Public Health, Health Sciences, or in a relevant eligible health practitioner discipline/profession and current registration/membership with the applicable State Registration Board/Professional Association, including any necessary endorsement, to be provided to the employing services prior to the commencement of duty.
