About you:

In your new role you will…

  • Demonstrate effective team leadership and superior communication skills including strategic negotiation, consultation and report preparation.
  • Demonstrate strong self-management skills, a commitment to continuous improvement, ability and flexibility to respond to change and emergent issues.
  • Proven ability to present accurate advice on complex issues related to patient safety, quality and risk management.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will provide expert advice and skills to achieve a devolved system of clinical governance which utilises systems for integrated risk management, service capability, continuous quality improvement and patient safety to meet national standards and to provide managers and staff with training and education on implementing quality, and patient safety systems to achieve safe, quality healthcare within a dynamic risk management framework.

About your role:

  • To monitor and report performance against quality and safety indicators and outcome measures to the Executive and Board.
  • Provide leadership, expert advice, and support to relevant Patient Safety and Quality forums, directors, managers and staff on patient safety, quality and risk management activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate teaching a wide range of patient safety, quality and risk education programs using recognised skills training methodology, in collaboration with the Nurse Educators and Medical Officers across the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service (CHHHS).
  • Provide managers and staff with expert advice on a range of quality analysis methodologies to manage clinical incidents including Root Cause Analysis, review of severity assessment codes, Human Error and Patient Safety (HEAPS) review, and Clinical Care Review.
