The role 
Reporting to the Director of Clinical Informatics, OCCIO, you will provide senior clinical informatic leadership and assistance to the eHealth Queensland Major ICT Clinical Incident Management processes, this role is required to participate in rostered on call. Additionally, the successful candidate will lead, support and facilitate statewide clinical incident response, by providing clinical impact assessments applying clinical context and risk analysis to major ICT, clinical system incidents.

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Demonstrated high-level management skills transferrable to across the OCCIO team to ensure alignment to OCCIO's strategy, operational plan and priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for team priorities on matters of high importance, using negotiation and conflict management skills with relevant statewide stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly respond and reprioritise work to minimise risk and disruption to operational service delivery and patient safety impacts.
  • Demonstrated high-level management skills and decision-making processes that minimise risk and optimise resources, service and efficiency.
  • Demonstrated advanced specialist knowledge, experience and clinical skills in one or more clinical informatics specialities
  • Demonstrated advanced problem-solving and expert clinical judgement in relation to clinical informatics
  • Demonstrated high-level judgement in advising and influencing senior management and other stakeholders in relation to Queensland Health's digital agenda.
  • Demonstrated high-level communication skills to align OCCIO's clinical informatics team and influence culture.
  • Ability to lead digital quality service improvement initiatives to improve patient care and outcomes within digital Hospital and Health Services.
  • Uses evidence-based practice to apply knowledge and skills that support statewide Hospital and Health Services to manage complex clinical caseloads through the use of digital applications.
  • Demonstrated high-level of experience in stakeholder engagement and ability to negotiate change.
  • Proven high-level oral and written communication skills and a high-level ability to apply contemporary project leadership principles to develop and maintain effective relationships within both the OCCIO team and with external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated understanding or the ability to upskill in QLD Health's digital agenda, specifically relating to the change governance processes and relevant IT tools to support this (ie. ServiceNow)
  • Proven experience in the use of computers and software packages such as MS Office.

 Mandatory qualifications/professional registration/other requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) as a Registered Nurse (RN). Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager before the commencement of employment.  
  • Significant experience in the delivery of complex information management in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven high level of interpersonal, negotiation, consultation, verbal, and written communication skills, ranging from the ability to formally brief organisational leaders to coaching and mentoring team members.

Whilst not mandatory, the following would be highly regarded:

  • Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification (i.e. Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, Masters Degree) or evidence of enrolment in such a program.
  • Experience and knowledge of digital health clinical system(s) and/or implementation processes.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the challenges associated with the delivery of large-scale and complex business transformation and change in a clinical setting.
  • High-level program/project management skills, with the ability to achieve successful program outcomes.
  • Previous experience working in clinical informatics, health practitioner education, and digital education within the ieMR.
