Reporting to the General Manager, the Safety Specialist is accountable for supporting and mentoring the site employees in identifying and implementing appropriate procedures and practices required to protect the safety of plant workers, and for the field level administration of the loss prevention management practices and programs at Nutrien, Joffre Nitrogen Operations (JNO).
What you will do:
  • Work with Site departments, employees and contractors to identify safety risks and concerns and implement appropriate mitigating actions for routine and non-routine work
  • Support the development, implementation, monitoring and maintenance of loss control policies, practices and procedures to meet site needs and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure that JNO meets and exceeds targeted safety performance
  • Ensure incidents and near miss incidents are reported and that findings and recommendations are implemented in the field
  • Perform as a member and coach of the Loss Prevention Team (LPT) and support
  • Develop the LPT and the complete their activities, focusing on addressing site and employee needs and concerns
  • Perform health and safety testing, training and monitoring for all employees as required
  • Effectively communicate using both written and verbal
What you will bring:
  • High School Diploma
  • Have or working towards OHS certification preferred; eligibility to obtain CRSP designation beneficial
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience
  • Operations experience considered an assest
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office suite
