About Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre
Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre (MCSC) is a state wide NATA accredited paediatric sleep service and unique in providing all types of sleep studies for all age groups of children across Victoria. It is located in a custom built paediatric sleep centre based at Monash Children's Hospital (MCH). The unit is staffed by 3 consultants, a full time paediatric sleep advanced trainee, 18 sleep scientists, 6 nurses and 3 administration staff. MCSC performs 30 inpatient sleep studies per week along with a home oximetry service which performs 30-40 tests per week. A portable sleep unit is available for inpatient sleep studies in NICU and PICU. An extensive non-invasive ventilation service is managed by the 3 consultants and staffed by a dedicated clinical nurse educator and 2 sleep scientists. The consultants provide both outpatient and inpatient consultative services for paediatric sleep. MCSC has a strong research program which in conjunction with Monash University is recognized as the most productive research group in paediatric sleep medicine in Australasia and is ranked second internationally (Scopus). Multiple NHMRC grants along with other funding sources have allowed the development of multiple research projects which each year lead to publications and presentations.
About the Role
To support the MCSC Director and Non-Invasive Ventilation Director to oversee and direct the provision and reporting of paediatric sleep studies and home oximetries. Depending on time allocation supporting the non-invasive ventilation services provided by the MCSC. A temporary 0.5 FTE position is available at the Melbourne Children's Sleep Centre (MCSC) at Monash Children's Hospital. This position will start 6th of May and conclude October 11th 2024. We are looking for someone who is a FRACP accredited paediatric sleep physician to join our team to help with reporting of overnight sleep studies and home oximetry. The role is for 0.50 SMS FTE within the Melbourne Children’s Sleep Centre Ward 4 E, but a 0.3 FTE applicant would be considered. This position is able to be performed remotely. The candidate’s responsibilities will be reporting overnight polysomnography and home oximetry. They will be expected to attend and participate in regular clinical meetings including a fortnightly PSG review and weekly Journal club and Radiology meetings. Participation in the non-invasive ventilation meeting and MCSC staff in-service is encouraged. Currently all these meetings are conducted remotely via TEAMS platform.
What you need:
Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a specialist in Sleep Medicine (Paediatric)
Appropriate health professional tertiary qualifications
Fellowship of the RACS or equivalent
Working with Children's Certificate
