About you: 

You are a qualified Anaesthetic Technician with demonstrated anaesthesia support practice and environment preparation, ability to work effectively and sharing knowledge and skills within a multidisciplinary team and an understanding of limitations relating to your clinical competence to undertake more complex tasks.

Your opportunity: 

Provide professional, clinical, and technical anaesthetic support services with supervision and guidance aligned to level of experience. Contributions are valued for guideline, policy, and procedure development. All Anaesthetic Technicians (HPs) have opportunity participating in clinical specialist portfolios additional to providing educational expertise for graduates, upskilling, and transitional health care professionals.

Additionally, you will have a fabulous opportunity providing anaesthetic support in unique rural and remote areas of the Torres Strait and Cape York Peninsula including Weipa, Cooktown, and Thursday Island. This position is inclusive of:

Your role: 

  • Provide dedicated anaesthesia support for the safe administration of anaesthesia or sedation, as specified in ANZCA professional document PSO8: Statement on the Assistant for the Anaesthetist.
  • Maintain professional conduct through complying with the AAAHP Code of Conduct.
  • Work in multi-disciplinary teams with effective time management, organisational, and communication skills and additionally providing support to students as required.
  • Embrace practice flexibility for changing priorities and expanding organisational and stakeholder demands.
  • Plan, prepare, and maintain the anaesthetic environment autonomously, ensuring availability of essential anaesthesia equipment and monitoring.
  • Provide anaesthesia support in remote specialist procedural areas, for example: medical Imaging, cardiology, and endoscopy.
