Employment Term

  • Fixed Term Temporary full-time, commencing ASAP - 30/06/2024 
    (with a possbility of an additional 12 month extension)

Generous remuneration package value up to $88,187 p.a.comprising:

  • Salary rates between $2786.60 - $2962.60 p.f. (HWF3.1-3)

Role requirements   

  • Under s25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991, there is a genuine occupational requirement for the incumbent to be Indigenous to the Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Community.
  • Certificate 4 in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Primary Health Care is a mandatory qualification required for this position. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification.  Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of duties.
  • Minimum of 12 months experience as a Health Worker or similar role highly desirable.
  • Driver's Licence – this position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle and appropriate license endorsement to operate this vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided prior to the commencement of duty.
  • Blue Card Checks: Potential applicants are advised that the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian Act 2000 requires Queensland Health to seek a ‘working with children check' from the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian prior to appointment to this position. 5.1.

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver primary health care programs in response to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people aged 12 – 19 years within scope of practice.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal qualities and skills including:
  • The ability to work in partnership through liaison, negotiation, conflict resolution and networking activities with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families/carers, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community, schools, and relevant health and social service providers.
  • The ability to advocate in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people's health issues.
  • The ability to communicate in verbal and written forms to a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office, and electronic patient information and data entry applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, plan and manage tasks and work with others to meet set timeframes.
  • Demonstrated ability to actively participate in a working environment supporting quality human resource management practices including employment equity, anti-discrimination, occupational health and safety, and ethical behaviour.
  • Demonstrated commitment to self-education and professional development.
