We are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated, trained Health Visitor or trainee Health Visitor to join the Inverness Health Visiting team. The post is full time – 37 hours. You will work for The Highland Council with Agenda for Change terms and conditions.

You will undertake a Masters/MSc, Postgraduate Diploma in Early Years Practice Health Visiting. Evidence demonstrates the importance of prevention, early identification, and intervention throughout the early years of life. Health Visitors have a significant public health role to play in relation to individuals, families, and communities by providing critical support to all children under five years of age.

You will identify health needs as early as possible and improve health and wellbeing by promoting health, preventing ill health, and reducing inequalities. Your health visiting practice will be based on the Universal Health Visiting Pathway underpinned by GIRFEC and the National Practice Model. Although your focus of health visiting will be on young children, you will have to build a solid bond with the whole family. You will be working as an autonomous practitioner with families, young children, and vulnerable individuals, means you must be approachable, friendly and have excellent communication skills. There may be very difficult cases, so you need to be able to deal with stress and challenges. Time management and organisational skills are also essential.
