Practice Details:

Northern Health Authority is seeking a family/general practitioner to join the medical team at the Valemount Health Centre for a 1.0 FTE vacancy.

Valemount is the home of Mount Robson, the highest peak in the Rockies and the origin of the Fraser River. The major industries include forestry, ranching, and tourism. Valemount is a rural community of approximately 1100 residents. There is one elementary school and one secondary school.

The health centre provides a number of services under one roof to residents in this community near the Alberta border. Three physicians currently practice in the health centre. Three expanded role nurses provide services in the outpatient clinic (no inpatient services are provided at the health centre). The facility sees an average of 4700 ER visits per year. Other services include:

• Laboratory
• X-ray
• Extended care
• Mental health and addictions
• Prenatal registry and pre/post-natal group appointments
• DIGMAs (Drop in Group Medical Appointments) for population health care.
• Home and community care
• Evening clinics to target our working population
• Well Woman clinics
• Foot care clinics
• Patient self-management room where the patients can take their own blood pressure, weigh themselves, and use the computer to access sites such as How’s Your Health
• Outpatient clinics with visiting specialists (orthopedic, rheumatology, paediatric, renal)
• Shared care via video with a respirologist in a group appointment setting

Valemount Community Health Center is a full-service health center which provides emergency medical care, lab services, seniors’ programs, addictions services, counselling services, home and community care, public health and more.

Programs:
• Prenatal registry and pre/postnatal group appointments
• Primary Care Nurses – Immunization, prenatal, palliative care in community
• Evening clinics to target our working population
• Well Woman clinics
• Foot care clinics (limited)
• Patient self-management room where the patients can take
their own blood pressure, weigh themselves, and use the computer to access sites such as How’s Your Health
• Outpatient clinics with visiting specialists (Orthopedic,
