About your opportunity

Fixed Term Temporary full-time, ASAP up to 05/02/2025

Townsville Public Health Unit has an available accredited training post for advanced training in public health medicine. The post will be predominately focused on communicable disease control in the immediate future with the ability to complete all aspects of advanced training on site.

This role includes:

    • Investigation of cases of notifiable diseases.
    • Providing information and advice on communicable disease and immunisation issues to health practitioners and the community.
    • Working with others in the team to provide a coordinated response to disease outbreaks.
    • Assisting with medical support for Environmental Health, Vector programs and other public health projects.

Generous remuneration package value up to $19,389 p.m. comprising:

  • Salary range of $4822.20 to $5591.00 p.f. (L4-L9)
  • Annual leave with 17.5% loading
  • 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

  • MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Prior enrollment with OR ability to enrol with advanced training in Public Health Medicine (AFPHM)- this requires 3 years minimimm of clinical experience AND the completion (prior to starting) of a suitable MPH program.
  • Proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association.
  • This position may require undertaking duties at another hospital either on secondment or rotation.
  • This position will require undertaking rostered overtime and on-call duties.
  • This position may be required to undertake shifts in an extended span of ordinary hours to meet clinical need.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a class C motor vehicle, and an appropriate licence. Endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • All applicants must be awared SoCP by the Townsville Hospital and Health Service Credentialing and SoCP Committee. All appointments are subject to maintenance of the SoCOP with the CSCS for the facilities in which clinical work is to be undertaken.
  • This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
