The Day Surgery Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for Registered Nurses to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Registered Nurse provides nursing services within the health service settings; and demonstrates competence in the provision of nursing care as specified by registration requirements, NMBA standards and codes, educational preparation, relevant legislation and context of care.

About the Team

Day Surgery Unit is part of the Perioperative and Ambulatory Care Stream within Mackay Base Hospital. Its' aim is to provide a high-quality patient centred service along the surgical continuum from preadmission to post discharge phone call, through staff and patient education, multidisciplinary consultation, community engagement, feedback and innovation, within allocated financial resources.

It includes pre-admission clinic, day of surgery admissions, second stage “day only” recovery, extended day surgery and endoscopy, offering staff a variety of healthcare environments to apply their clinical skills. The Day Surgery Unit supports all diagnostic and interventional endoscopic procedures performed at the Mackay Base Hospital such as colonoscopy, gastroscopy, bronchoscopy and retrograde cholangiopancreatography.
