The Wester Ross Integrated Health & Social Care Team has a vacancy for a professionally qualified Social Worker in it’s busy Ullapool office.  The Team works closely with other disciplines such as nursing and mental health teams to provide a multi disciplinary and  integrated service for adults in a beautiful but remote and rural setting. Although based in Ullapool the Team covers a wide area from Lochcarron in the South to Ullapool in the north and the mainly coastal locations in between.

This post is vital to ensuring the wellbeing of the communities to receive support to lead fulfilling lives

The work would include supporting vulnerable adults and their families and carers using a person-centred approach within relevant legislation including the Adult Support and Protection, Adults with Incapacity and Mental Health Acts.  You would be part of a Team working with other NHS professionals to provide a multi-disciplinary framework for interventions, assessments, report writing, arranging, with the client’s consent, care packages to meet assessed need. Working as part multi-disciplinary service which supports adults living within a large remote and rural geographical area with the potential challenges this can present. 

Flexible working is encouraged and an application for part time or job share would also be considered. One of our Service's top priorities is nurturing the next generation of staff so applications from newly qualified workers are welcome.  You will be provided with a full Induction and training as part of your continuing career development.

Due to the rural nature of this post a full driving licence is essential

Applicants should be registered with the Scottish Social Services council on the ‘Social worker’ part of the register and hold a qualification that is recognised by the SSSC as being equivalent to the Diploma in social work (DipSW).

NHS Scotland is reducing their full time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay.  This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff.  This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.  However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact the Recruiting Board.
