We are delighted to have the opportunity to recruit a band 8a Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our Urology team within the Surgical Care Group at UHS. This post will be focused on the prostate cancer diagnostic pathway, where a fully nurse-led service sees the patient from initial referral to diagnosis. The role is outpatient based and will require the applicant to conduct 2 week wait clinics, request and review imaging, perform local anaesthetic precision point prostate biopsies, be an active role in the cancer MDT and finally provide a results clinic. 

We seek a dynamic and driven ACP, with demonstrated leadership abilities and a keen interest in Urology, to complement our existing team of ACPs. Our Urology ACP team prides itself on delivering patient-focused, high-quality, safe, and effective clinical care, in both pre- and post-operative contexts, ensuring optimal outcomes for our patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Advanced Clinical Practitioner will perform at an advanced level under the core capabilities across the four pillars of Advanced Practice (Health Education England Multi-Professional Framework 2017). This role requires specialist advanced clinical practice in the form of 2 week wait assessments and precision point biopsies, strong leadership and management to ensure the smooth running of the patient pathway and service. It requires the applicant to not only be a breadth of current research but to add to it with audit and willing participation in trials and to provide education to patients and staff  alike. The ideal candidate will use collaborative and independent judgement to progress the patient appropriately through the diagnostic pathway. The practitioner will be under the clinical supervision of a named consultant and under the guidance of the lead Urology ACP. 

All duties will take place onsite at UHS. Core working hours include a shift pattern Monday to Friday 0730-1800. However working weekends and evenings may be required on occasion. This may increase in frequency as the service expands.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Registered Healthcare Professional on relevant part of NMC / HCPC register
• MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice –full master (180 credits) Or equivalency pathway –the portfolio route –recognition by HEE centre of Advanced practice, via the supported portfolio route. Including NMP where professional registration permits. Or have formally credentialed on a nationally recognised specialty specific Advanced Clinical Practice programme for example FICM or RCEM EM ACP
• Leadership and Management qualification

Desirable criteria

• Act in the role of Practice Assessor or supporting the progression of learners / supporting challenges as needed

Knowledge and experience

Essential criteria

• Speciality specific post registration qualification or training
• Provide evidence of Leading learning in practice
• Provide evidence of supporting colleagues to promote learning in practice providing an excellent learning environment for all
• Provide evidence of Supporting /managing and supervision a range of learnings in practice
• Able to develop and implement policy, guidelines and projects from initiation to completion
• Completion of IR(ME)R Training
• Extensive post registration experience in a relevant speciality
• Experience of Service Development

Getting to Work

Application can be made for parking on site at UHS or through one of the park and ride schemes.
