CoMade are currently seeking an HSE Advisor to join our team in Sydney. The role is responsible for monitoring the constructions works on a project and evaluating the project general contractor’s management of the contractors appointed to the projects. There will be a requirement to travel between two sites around the Sydney area. This is 12-month, full time role (5 days a week).

Some responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring the implementation of the project-Specific Construction Safety Management Plan (CSMP) of the General Contractor. 
  • Evaluating H&S leadership, planning, support, operational controls, performance management, and continuous improvement of both the General contractor/Developer and their Contractors
  • Ensure safety systems and procedures are implemented and followed to ensure adherence with legislative requirements.
  • Actively participate in the development of Safe Work Method Statements.
  • Conduct regular formal inspections, audits & compliance checks of Contractors work to ensure the SWMS covers all the work being done, that the controls listed in the SWMS comply with hierarchy of controls, and that controls are implemented and effective.
  • Ensure actions from inspections, audits, incident investigations, observations, hazard reports, staff meetings and workforce meetings are captured, recorded and followed through until closed out.

What will you need?

A few years’ experience in a similar role coupled with a suitable qualification to support a growing career within HSE in Construction (industrial, civil, or technology-related). A sound knowledge of H&S standards and regulations. Competency in occupational H&S management systems (i.e. ISO 45001; OHSAS 18001). Proven expertise in hazard risk assessment, safe method working statements, and post-incident root cause analysis. Effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with people at all levels.
