The Opportunity  
This position works collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the provision of quality nutrition and dietetic services to patients within the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. This is a rotational position within the following caseloads: medical, surgical, oncology, cardiac, outpatients, renal, rehab, subacute, Charters Towers.

The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is responsible for providing a comprehensive dietetic service to patients of the Townsville University Hospital and the remaining Townsville Hospital and Health Service including Palm Island, North Ward renal satellite unit and surrounding areas of North Queensland (via outreach renal services).   An outreach service is also supplied to Charters Towers including The Charters Towers Hospital, Eventide Nursing Home and Charters Towers Rehabilitation Unit. 

The department consists of approximately 20 full-time equivalent (FTE) dietitians as outlined under the Organisational structure and is supported by 2 FTE nutrition assistants.  There is also professional leadership across the (HHS) to all dietetic services to support service delivery, service development and appropriate standards of professional care.

The Nutrition and Dietetics Department provides services across a seven-day period.  The successful candidate to this position will be required participate in seven day rostering systems.

Employment Term

  • Pemanent part-time. 60.8 hours per fortnight.

Role requirements   

  • For new graduates awaiting conferment of qualifications, the candidate must provide proof from the university that the candidate has passed all academic requirements and is eligible to receive their degree. 
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a C motor vehicle and an appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle, as the position may be required to travel for outreach purposes.  Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • The successful applicant must hold at least a tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics and hold the Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) credential.
