Fixed Term Temporary full-time from 27/05/2024 up to 02/08/2024. 

Pro rata remuneration package based on full-time equivalent value of up to $14,860 p.m., comprising salary range of $5721.10 - $5973.00 p.f. (+ any applicable allowances/benefits) (Nurse Grade 8), recreational leave loading (17.5%), and employer contribution to superannuation (12.75%).

About the role
As a member of the Townsville Mental Health Service Group (MHSG), in the Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (CLP) team, the Nurse Practitioner will provide an advanced and extended nursing scope of practice to inpatient treatment areas of the Townsville University Hospital (TUH). The aims of the CLP team are to provide timely, specialist consultation and management of psychiatric comorbidities in a general hospital setting. The CLP team provide services to patients of the TUH who may be experiencing mental health problems or those who do not suffer major mental health problems but whose acute and chronic conditions affect their emotional equilibrium and sense of well-being.

The Nurse Practitioner role acts to ensure the provision of best practice in the multidisciplinary team through application of advanced and extended scope of practice that provides high quality clinical assessment and interventions for consumers of the TUH. The Nurse Practitioner role is inclusive of, but not limited to, comprehensive assessments, recommendations for management and care planning, prescribing activities, diagnostics inclusive of investigations and direct referral. 

Role requirements

  • Master of Nursing Science (Nurse Practitioner) or equivalent. Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and possession of a current practising certificate as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • The Nurse Practitioner will be required to complete THHS credentialing at commencement of their role,
  • Highly Desirable: Possession of a relevant postgraduate qualification in an appropriate field is highly desirable. Such experience may be discipline specific or have a service area focus.
