About the role

It is the purpose of this role to provide:

  • Day to day operational and professional leadership and management for the Occupational Therapy Surgery team at the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (RBWH) delivering clinical services including: provision of clinical practice supervision for clinical assistants and pre entry / graduate and developing clinicians, responsibility for performance management, leadership of continuous service improvement and research activities, and provision of strategic planning for the implementation of HHS and State wide priorities.
  • Advanced level occupational therapy clinical services to achieve excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Knowledge, skills and expertise

  • Clinical Expertise: Demonstrated advanced level knowledge, expertise and skill in contemporary clinical practice standards for occupational therapy services relevant to Surgery, Orthopaedics, Plastics and Hand Therapy in an acute, tertiary referral hospital.
  • Communication/Team participation: Demonstrated application of a high standard of communication skills and advice to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams, with consumers and with other internal and external agencies in order to provide high quality, culturally responsive services.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to provide operational, clinical, and strategic leadership to a team of Occupational Therapists and Clinical Assistants, students and trainees.
  • Quality improvement: Demonstrated ability to lead innovative quality/service improvement and research projects of significant scope and clinical importance to Occupational Therapy and/or Queensland Health
