Alberta Health Services- Calgary Zone, and the Department of Rural Medicine at the Canmore General Hospital, are currently looking for a Generalist Obstetrician Gynecologist to join their current team of Specialists and Family Medicine physicians and establish a part-time practice in the community of Canmore.

The successful candidate is required to offer services within the Canmore General Hospital and out of a community-based specialty practice, within the community of Canmore starting in September 2024.

The candidate can choose to operate their business by joining an existing community-based practice, or to open their own practice.  This isi the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges.
  • One colposcopy clinic every 6-8 weeks.
  • 1-2 OR days per month.
  • Provide call assistance as per call schedules - typically 3 to 5 days of call per month.
  • Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules, and AHS policies.
  • Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care.

Required Qualifications: 

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.
  • Must read, write, and speak English.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Advanced laparoscopic surgical skills
  • Advances in Labour and Risk Management (ALARM)
  • Managing Obstetrical Risk Efficiently (MOREOB)
