The Procurement Officer will also undertake market analysis, drive continuous improvement, implement standard procurement processes, deliver general sourcing activities, and support contract negotiation. The role is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive knowledge database of supplier's markets, capabilities and technology and supporting the implementation of strategic commercial agreements that optimise value for money.

About System Procurement: 

System Procurement is responsible for leading the category management, contracting and end to end supply of all medical and non-medical goods and services (excluding capital infrastructure and ICT) on behalf of the Department of Health and Hospital and Health Services.

Advisory & Continuous Improvement (ACI) supports system wide procurement responsibilities and gives confidence and integrity to the overall procurement function of CSD.  The ACI adopts a collaborative and progressive approach to engagement to drive innovation in procurement practice raising stakeholders' awareness of current trends and thinking.

What we are looking for:

  • Demonstrated experience in procurement identifying opportunities to improve the value delivered from every dollar spent and in delivering the initiatives required to secure that value.
  • Supplier engagement experience including attending supplier meetings, providing constructive feedback to suppliers based on evidence and resolving minor contract issues.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in contemporary procurement and category management practices and issues, relevant regulations and the ability to deliver best-value quality customer services.
