Camooweal Primary Health Care Clinic
The Camooweal township was initially a supply depot for surrounding stations. It is now an aboriginal settlement and is the last petrol stop for about 300 klms for people travelling into the Northern Territory.
The township is officially part of the city of Mount Isa and local government is administered from Mount Isa.
The indigenous population fluctuates as people migrate from Lake Nash and Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
Camooweal Primary Health Centre is operated by a Registered Nurse. This facility provides short term inpatient observation beds, domiciliary nursing services, child health services and emergency services with stabilisation capacity prior to transfer to a referral hospital.
