The Director Procurement Excellence (Department of Health) role is accountable for the overall implementation, development and performance of the Advisory and Continuous Improvement (ACI) team and the overarching procurement governance and contracting strategy.  The role works closely with central agencies of government, other State government departments and Queensland Health generally to achieve positive outcomes for Corporate Services Division (CSD) and System Procurement (SP) and its customers.

The role is an executive leadership role within System Procurement senior leadership team. The incumbent is responsible for strategically leading the ACI function for the Department of Health, CSD and SP. The role is responsible for ensuring the ACI team achieves CSDs and SP's strategic objectives and supports SP's vision.

This position reports to Chief Procurement Officer, System Procurement, Corporate Services Division. The number of direct reports is 3.

What we are looking for:

• Significant experience at the most senior levels in governance and compliance functions; preferably within a procurement framework and in large and/or complex organisations e.g. government departments such as public works, health or education. 
• Understand the nuances, complexities and diversity of working in complex environments with overarching public-sector obligations. 
• Extensive and proven management expertise, particularly in relation to procurement, contracts and supplier management and commercial law, with a dynamic and demonstrable awareness of risk management in a complex environment.
• Demonstrable understanding of end-to-end procurement and/or governance functions, systems and processes.
