About your opportunity

Operating Theatre Assistant / Permanent part-time / 38 hours p.f.

To assist nursing, medical and surgical staff within the 14 Operating theatre complex and outlie areas to ensure a safe and efficient work area.

• Assist with the transfer of patients to and from the operating tables using appropriate equipment.
• Assist with Perioperative antiseptic preparation, limb support and manipulation, irrigation fluids, and basic cardiac pulmonary resuscitation.
• Apply cast, splints and other appliances to patients as directed.
• Cleaning of operating theatres and associated areas in accordance to the Queensland Health Guidelines and Infection Control Guidelines. This will include a “high clean” of the theatre environment by the operating theatre assistant during core business hours.

Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:

• Demonstrated ability to perform the role of an Operating Theatre Assistant.
• Previous Manual Handling Experience in a Health Care setting.
• Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment.
• Demonstrated ability to priorities work commitments and work autonomously in a rapidly changing work environment.
• Excellent consultative, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.

Generous remuneration package value up to $39,552 p.a. comprising:

• Salary range of $33.03 to $34.96 p.h. (OO3)
• Annual leave with leave loading
• 12.75% employer contribution to superannuation.

Requirements

• Although not mandatory, qualifications relevant to the position would be well regarded.
• Shift Workers: Appointees will be required to work all shifts in accordance with the unit roster.
• This is a Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) risk role: Hepatitis A/B, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Pertussis.
• Probation period may apply.
• Pre-employment checks will be conducted.
