Prison Health Services operates between the Townsville Men's Correctional Centre (TCC) and Townsville Women's Correctional Centre (TWCC). The clinical nurse is responsible for providing advanced primary health care to the patients within the prison setting. Responsibilities include medication administration, health education, chronic disease case management, responding to emergencies and working within a multidisciplinary team to provide equitable and safe care as well as project and portfolio management and mentoring of students and staff.
The purpose of the Clinical Nurse is to deliver timely holistic client care according to scope of practice, within a primary health care model in a prison health setting as prescribed by policy, clinical standards, clinical guidelines and protocols, workplace instructions and the Corrective Services Act 2006.
