What we are looking for:

  • Must have extensive and proven experience in leading teams in procurement governance, transformation and / or compliance functions, preferably within a large and complex organisation in public or private sector.  Must understand the nuances, complexities, and diversity of working in large matrixed environment with overarching public sector obligations.
  • Must have knowledge of public sector procurement policy, obligations, and due diligence requirements.
  • Highly desirable to be a subject matter expert in continuous improvement or transformation
  • Desirable to have exposure to procurement's allied functions such as supply chain or finance
  • Proven commercial acumen and financial management skills.
  • Builds strategic networks and partnerships for long term benefit of System Procurement. Articulates work requirements, seeks feedback, and promotes and rewards teamwork, consulting and collaboration. Promotes and builds a diverse environment to harness the benefit of different views and working styles.
  • Shows willingness to go the extra mile and demonstrates accountability in defining, monitoring and measuring outcomes to meet customer's expectations.
  • Continually builds and maintains capability of self and team through on-going professional and personal development
  • Understands customers longer term agenda, anticipates challenges before they arise and works to build longevity in relationships.
  • Leads by example and able to provide direction and support to others in terms of identifying, structuring, and resolving challenges.
  • Encourages and rewards new ideas that improve on commercial, organisational and customer outcomes and empowers team to adapt and apply them to the working environment.
  • Contributes to the development of the SP vision. Develops ideas and sees the 'big picture'. Finds new ways of looking at issues and goes beyond past experience to draw out new insights from diverse and complex information. Translates complex ideas, issues, or observations into solutions
  • Guides the team to obtain essential information, focus on the key objectives, recognise the relevant options available, select an appropriate course of action and set in motion an implementation plan to deliver the right commercial outcomes.
  • Can translate information to others. Listens, understands the audience, anticipates reactions and prepare persuasive responses. Approaches negotiations with a clear understanding of issues and desired outcomes. Identifies relevant stakeholder concerns and presents persuasively to gain support.
  • Builds and sustains a diverse range of relationships with key contacts in other Strategic Procurement functional teams and relevant stakeholder groups.
