Provincial Health Services Authority
Vancouver, BC
Reporting to the President and CEO of PHSA, and as a critical member of the Senior Executive Leadership Team, the Vice President, Health and Wellness (VP) role is an exceptional opportunity to lead PHSA’s well-established, renowned, and highly skilled team at the BCCDC who, through their focused work each and every day, demonstrate an unwavering commitment to bring data, evidence, and rigorous analysis to support public health and wellness in British Columbia. Responsible for leading the integration of population and public health promotion and prevention across PHSA’s clinical programs – including supporting the care continuum with a patient-centred approach – this position is key to the good health of residents and visitors to British Columbia. The VP will provide executive leadership of the BCCDC and hold strategic oversight of primary and community care, with accountability for ensuring that the portfolio’s strategic objectives and operational plans are implemented effectively and efficiently.
The ideal candidate continually demonstrates humility in their relational and collaborative approaches to leading within PHSA and the BCCDC, as well as across the province, working with fellow public health leaders and health care practitioners from across PHSA, MoH, Office of the Provincial Health Officer, regional health authorities (RHA), the First Nations Health Authority (FNHA), Metis Nation BC, and other key service partners, to bring data, evidence, and rigour to complex public health decisions in British Columbia. A future-thinking change agent and collaborative relationship builder, the VP will showcase PHSA’s and BC’s reputation for leading population and public health programs, surveillance, research, and academic excellence, and support PHSA’s provincial mandate. The successful candidate will have held progressively senior leadership roles within public health or health care services with significant responsibility for operational and strategic plans.
The VP will wholeheartedly partner with the VP, Indigenous Health and the Senior Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) to ensure Indigenous-specific anti-racism, Indigenous Cultural Safety, and DEI strategic priorities are being actioned, and holds a steadfast commitment to diversity and creating a just system where Indigenous and other voices that have been systemically excluded are platformed and supported to lead change. PHSA is committed to equity in its hiring and employment practices. With learning and compassion, it is addressing existing inequities and barriers throughout its systems. PHSA is seeking to create a diverse workforce and to establish an inclusive and culturally safe environment. It invites applications and enquiries from all people, particularly those belonging to the historically, systemically, and persistently marginalized groups identified under the B.C. Human Rights Code.
