Tell me more...The Senior Occupational Therapist will deliver a culturally safe and responsive service within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with the Torres and Cape Hospital and Health Service organisational goals. 

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Demonstrated high level communication skills and the ability to collaborate with and provide advice to colleagues and senior management regarding clinical service development and business planning processes relevant to the delivery and development of Occupational Therapy services.
  • Demonstrated application of high-level knowledge, expertise and skills in rural generalist Occupational Therapy clinical practice and capacity within a multi-cultural context with a high proportion of First Nations people.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently apply evidence-based principles in clinical decision-making to facilitate treatment for complex Occupational Therapy problems.

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • This position requires the incumbent to operate a ‘C' Class Drivers Licence. An appropriate licence endorsement to operate this type of vehicle is required. Proof of this endorsement must be provided before commencement of duty.
  • Travel across the TCHHS will be a requirement of this position in commercial and/or light aircraft and 4WD vehicles.
