Tell me more...The midwife will work in conjunction with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioners and health workers, other caseload midwives, medical officers, and allied health staff to provide a culturally appropriate high-level service across the continuum of pregnancy, labour, birth, and post-natal period (up to 6 weeks post birth) including health promotion and education ensuring the provision of best practice and quality client care to women and their families.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Ability to comprehensively assess, plan, implement and evaluate midwifery care to women and neonates with varying risk categories, based on the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) National Competency Standards in collaboration with other health service providers.
  • Demonstrate advanced clinical problem-solving skills and the ability to plan and evaluate maternity care, for all women and their family, in collaboration with other team members.
  • High standard of written and oral communication skills in a cross-cultural

Requirements for the role:

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and/or registration with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/ manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. Current registration or eligibility to register as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia / Australian Health Practitioner Registration Authority (AHPRA) is mandatory.
  • Appointees will be required to work under the Caseload Midwifery Industrial Agreement which includes working variable hours and on call for annualised salary arrangement including 30% loading and 6 weeks Recreation leave.
