About us:

Mount Morgan MPHS is a 20-bed facility that offers a range of health services to the community. Private Practice undertakings are provided from a surgery co-located within the MPHS. Mount Morgan is approved as an Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and Royal Australian College of General Practitioners training post for suitable candidates.

About the role:

The Senior Medical Officer (SMO) provides safe, efficient, quality medical services to inpatients and outpatients of the Mount Morgan Multi-Purpose Health Service including the provision of 24-hour emergency department coverage.

  • Ensure a high quality and cost-efficient clinical practice through participation in the development and maintenance of quality enhancement and improvement strategies including:
    • participation in peer review,
    • clinical audits,
    • clinical coding,
    • the use of evidence-based treatment protocols and guidelines,
    • high-quality clinical documentation.

About you:

To be successful in this role you must have:

  • MBBS or equivalent eligible for registration as a Medical Practitioner with the Medical Board of Australia (MBA), Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • Current certificates in:
  • Advanced Life Support (ALS)
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support (APLS)
  • Early Management of Severe Trauma (EMST)
  • Enrolment/Acceptance onto a GP training program that will facilitate a provider number with access to Medical benefits for the private practice.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills, and experience across a variety of clinical fields (e.g., primary care, emergency and general medicine, geriatrics, mental health, drug, and alcohol), with an ability to provide an effective and efficient range of general practice services including safe childbirth in emergency situations.
  • Sound knowledge of community health, public health and epidemiology, Aboriginal health, drug and alcohol issues and health education.
  • Proven ability to work effectively as a member of the team with an ability to promote and adapt to change.

What we offer:

Salary information:

Total Remuneration value of $170,515 p.a. (L14); $205,665 p.a. (L18); $244,033 p.a. (L25) is comprised of:

  • A salary between $88,401 – $122,124 p.a.
  • 12.75% employer superannuation contribution
  • 17.5% leave loading

Other benefits include:

  • Professional Development Leave - 3.6 weeks p.a.
  • Professional Development Allowance - $10,750 p.a.
  • Motor Vehicle Allowance
  • Over-time and on-call allowances
  • Attraction and Retention Incentive Allowance (Granted Private Practice arrangements)
  • Inaccessibility Incentive Allowance - $6,900
    • 100% paid after twelve months completion
    • 25% paid in three monthly instalments thereafter

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements:

It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against vaccine preventable diseases as listed on the Role Description.
