Role requirements

  • Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and registration or membership (if applicable) with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager prior to commencement of clinical duties.
  • Aged Care Pre-Employment Screening: Applicants are advised this position works in an identified Aged Care Facility as per the Aged Care Act 1997 and therefore requires employees and volunteers to have a current National Police Certificate.  Queensland Health will facilitate applicants obtaining the above National Police Certificate. 

The ideal applicant will be someone who has proven ability and can demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in business principles and practices, including service planning, project management and financial accountability
  • Demonstrated high ability to lead a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated high communication and negotiation skills
  • High clinical knowledge in older person's health conditions and a sound understanding of community service provision
  • High knowledge of Quality Standards supporting service delivery
  • Demonstrated capability to work with non-Government Stakeholders to advocate for comprehensive older person services
  • Demonstrated understanding of change management and ability to lead change.

  • Wage rate ranges between $6848.00 - $7338.70 p.f. (HP7)
  • Annual leave with a 17.5% loading.

The Services
The AGED CARE ASSESSMENT TEAM provides specialist assessment, advice and assistance to older people and people with disabilities.  The service is designed to ensure that frail older people gain access to care services appropriate to their needs and improve coordination of aged care services with other health and community support services. 

The Dementia Assessment Service assists in identification of dementia and provides support through the journey of dementia. Staff consists of a clinical psychologist who undertakes comprehensive assessments to determine the level of cognitive impairment and impact on lifestyle.  This service liaises closely with Geriatricians; General Practitioners and specialists in order to ensure continuity of care.

The Townsville Community ALLIED HEALTH Team provides both assessment and intervention services in a centre base or home setting.  Operational and service direction is managed through the Team Leader Allied Health and Programs (TCHS). 

The Townsville HOME CARE Service provides basic domestic assistance to residents in the Townsville city boundary.  Currently there are 430 clients receiving a home care service either fortnightly or weekly dependent on their need.

INGHAM, CHARTERS TOWERS and PALM ISLAND Home Care Servicesday to day service delivery is consistent with the Townsville Home Care Service.  This position oversees program consistency through development and implementation of service procedures in line with the CHSP guidelines and THHS contractual arrangements with the Commonwealth.
