General Pathologist with AP/CP Boards or Anatomic Pathologist

The University of Alberta, Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology in partnership with Alberta Precision Laboratory is seeking a strong general pathologist with AP/CP boards to provide anatomic pathology, hematopathology and clinical laboratory services in a 243- bed community hospital setting. There is one other experienced pathologist on site. Effective communication and skills in quality assurance and laboratory management are essential. The service focuses on the delivery of quality patient care and offers a collaborative teamwork environment. Additional fellowship training and/or Canadian boards are not required but would be considered an asset. Experience is a plus, but new graduates are also encouraged to apply.

Grande Prairie, having a young population of 65K, acts as a regional service hub drawing from an additional 281K from Northern Alberta, Northern British Columbia and The Northwest Territories. The population is diverse. Grande Prairie is known as “The shopping capital of the north” and has many festivals, museums and amusement parks. The surrounding area has countless opportunities to enjoy the outdoors with nature trails and camping.

The employer has experienced staff members in onboarding US AP/CP boarded pathologists with citizenship in other countries via application for a Canadian work permit and will help facilitate appropriate Canadian CPMA liability coverage for the successful candidate.

 This position is available for AHS Sponsorship and Relocation Assistance.

Minimum qualifications include a MD, eligibility for licensure in the Province of Alberta with certification in Anatomic Pathology, Anatomic Pathology/Clinical Pathology or General Pathology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the American Board of Pathology.
