The Position
Seeking a General Surgery Registrar to join the Surgical Department, in this small but busy facility.
In this role, you will provide clinical care for patients under the guidance of senior medical staff. Your responsibilities will include attending to patients based on medical urgency, conducting comprehensive medical examinations and obtaining patient histories for new admissions. Additionally, you will coordinate and arrange appropriate investigations, assist in surgical procedures as necessary, and manage surgical conditions in adherence to acceptable clinical standards under the supervision of consultants.

The Location
Situated in the southeastern corner of Western Australia this region, equivalent to three times the size of Victoria and nearly a third of Western Australia's total land mass, is characterized by a rich tapestry that reflects the distinctive Aboriginal culture. The legacies of early mining and agricultural pioneers, and a diverse history of interstate and international migration. Encompassing Western Australia's Golden Outback, the region spans from the rugged red landscapes of the Northern Goldfields and Great Western Woodland to the pristine, snow-white beaches of Esperance and the South Coast. The coastal Esperance zone is particularly noteworthy, featuring a myriad of breathtaking natural attractions. This area showcases coastal scenery, remarkable flora and fauna, serene bushwalks, and meticulously maintained campgrounds, offering a diverse range of experiences for residents and visitors alike.

The Facility
A regional public hospital in WA boasting 131 beds and a roster of over 350 qualified medical practitioners. Following a comprehensive $59.6 million redevelopment of the main campus, both visitors and locals now benefit from enhanced, contemporary treatment facilities. The official opening in 2015 marked the completion of clinical works, seamlessly integrating with earlier phases of the redevelopment. These earlier phases introduced a palliative care unit, a new emergency department, a high dependency unit, and a medical imaging department, collectively enhancing the hospital's capabilities and services.

The Requirements
  • Eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Demonstrated clinical and procedural experience.
  • Ability to provide teaching, supervision and training support.
  • Demonstrated well developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
