Working in the Health Improvement Team within the Public Health Directorate, the post holder will take forward a programme of Public Health / Health Improvement work to support NHS Highland to deliver on national and local targets and priorities. 

Working collaboratively across all parts of NHS Highland’s organisational structure and with partner agencies, this post will operate throughout Highland's geographic area therefore the post holder must be able to travel around the area. 

The post will be based in Inverness.

You will have a firm understanding of the principles and practice of Public Health / Health Improvement along with 5 years health improvement / public health experience; strategic planning, partnership working and policy development; the use of data for assessing need; and working with delivery partners and communities. Knowledge of the current context of this agenda, including key national policy drivers and national and local priorities for tackling inequality and promoting health would be advantageous. Candidates should have excellent communication skills and be competent in delivering training. You will be knowledgeable of the effects that inequalities have on health and the causes of health inequalities.  

Qualified to degree level, the post holder should have a relevant postgraduate qualification that demonstrates an understanding of health improvement / health promotion / public health or has augmented by additional modules at master’s level an existing related post graduate qualification.

Candidates should be willing to pursue registration through the Faculty of Public Health practitioner registration scheme.
