About the role

  • Provide executive level strategy and management of the Health Information Service across the Caboolture, Kilcoy & Woodford directorate. You will provide expert strategic and operational advice to the hospital executive on all matters relating to Health Information Services and its functions. The Director Clinical Health Information Services will be responsible for ensuring that the performance of the Health Information Services (HIS) is at a high standard and provided within specified Department of Health and Metro North Hospital and Health Service timeframes.
  • A fundamental of the role is to ensure that clinical classification is timely and maintained to a high standard. The Director will also oversee the clinical record management function including information privacy, retention and clinical access and provide advice to staff to ensure that the appropriate legislation, policies, procedures and standards are adhered to.
  • With the strategic direction of Metro North Hospital and Health Service (Metro North Health) including a move towards clinical networks, streams and Directorate Structures across Metro North Health there will be implementation of electronic clinical record solutions. The Director of Clinical Health Information Services will therefore oversee the management of all clinical information systems including but not limited to Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals Patient Administration Information Systems. Further, in the context of the implementation of integrated clinical information systems this role will play a key role at Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals in informing the strategy and in providing expert advice when considering the transition to an electronic record.

  • High Performance
    • Responsible for the information systems and technology in HIS, and primary responsibility for many hospital-wide systems including: Patient Administration System (HBCIS), electronic Discharge Summary (eDS), The Viewer, My Health Record, and any new implementations such as components of the ieMR.
    • Provide expert advice to Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals Executive Team and other Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals staff regarding all aspects of the management and provision of Health Information Management Services within Caboolture and Kilcoy Hospitals. As a member of the Metro North HHS Health Information Management team actively contribute and lead clinical health information initiatives.
    • Lead the Health Information Service WAU Optimisation Strategies for inpatient and outpatient data.
  • Integrity
    • Coordinate and manage the human, financial and physical resources of the HIS to achieve optimum performance to support clinical and management areas.
    • Ensure the management of clinical information complies with legislative, policy and quality (eg: ACHS accreditation) requirements.
    • Manage approvals for research as data custodian.
    • Manage privacy complaints and potential breaches as PCCO, working with Metro North Integrity/ Health Information/ Legal as required.
