We are looking to recruit a qualified Mammographer or to train a Radiographer in Mammography.  The successful candidate will be enrolled on to a post graduate certificate in Mammography with Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh, starting in August 2024.  We would also consider a rotational post, this would be 2 weeks alternating with your current post at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary or Woodend Hospital.

Post Graduate certificate in Mammography

The course commitment is:

A minimum 5 day clinical placement at the Scottish Academy of Breast Imaging (SABI), GlasgowTwo academic blocks at SABI (currently via Teams)Work based learning within the North East Breast Screening Programme and Symptomatic Mammography, Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  On site mentors will be assigned to the trainee throughout their training.

Please note, for qualified Mammographers - All applicants must have completed the SABI PgCert Mammography qualification or equivalent. For international qualifications a copy of the certificate and course transcript must be provided along with individual module and general course Learning Outcomes. An outline of clinical experience obtained during the training period must also be included. All International applicants must confirm their English language proficiency by providing evidence of an International English language Test System (IELTS) overall score of 7.0 with no element below 6.5.'  If evidence of qualification is not provided at application, it will not progress for shortlisting.

This post will see the successful candidates join a mammography team consisting of Specialist Radiographers, Assistant practitioners and Advanced Practitioners.  Services consist of the Breast Screening unit and Symptomatic mammography held within Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.  Two mobile units also serve the outlying areas in Grampian including Orkney and Shetland.

We are looking to employ a mature, caring and enthusiastic radiographer who will fit in to our friendly team, dedicated to providing an excellent service for our patients in our locality.  The candidate will play a pivotal role in breast cancer diagnosis and may be involved in upsetting situations, although sometimes challenging, the post is extremely rewarding.

A current clean driving licence is essential.

It is also an occupational requirement (Equality Act – part 1, schedule 9), that the post holder is female due to the intimate nature of the work.
