Job overview

Applicants are invited for a  fixed term one year post aimed at post-CCT radiologists with an interest in cardiac imaging and who wish to develop this further in a high volume tertiary centre

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country and a major teaching and research centre. With 13,000 staff, 10 hospitals and over 100 different clinical services, we support the delivery of excellent care to the people of Bristol and beyond.

The appointee will work under the supervision of 3 experienced cardiac radiologists and imaging cardiologists based at Bristol Heart Institute.

The successful candidates will have an opportunity to practice all imaging modalities, participate in quality improvement / research projects and be involved in teaching and audit.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate must have full GMC registration. They must also possess FRCR (or equivalent), have completed their radiological training and be entered on the Specialist Register of the GMC at the start of the fellowship.

The Radiology Department is well-equipped, and is strongly involved in research and training, hosting 17 specialist Radiology trainees from the Severn Deanery at any time as well a specialist fellows .

Bristol was rated as the best city to live in the UK by the Sunday Times in 2017.  Bristol has coast and countryside right on its doorstep. The city has strong transport links with airport connecting many UK and European destination. The faster rail networks will see journey times to London cut to just 80 minutes. Bristol is the UK's first Cycling City, acknowledging the city's growing status as one of Europe's most bike-friendly destinations.

Interview will be organized in December 2023 with potential start April 2024. The start date is flexible for the right candidate but will be no later than August 2024.
